"Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please." (Mark Twain)

[Alleged journalist Brit] Hume said in an interview with Fox News Channel after talking to Cheney at the White House: "He said he'd had a beer at lunch. That had been many hours earlier. It was dusk, around 5 p.m., when this incident happened. And he said that they had lunch out in the field — a barbecue. He had a beer. ... He said no one was drinking. They went back to the ranch afterward and took a break after that, and then went back out about 3 o'clock. And so you're four or five hours distant from the last alcohol that he'd consumed. And he said nobody was drinking—not he, not anybody else."
As it happens, I can confirm this. It is absolutely true that Cheney had one beer with lunch, and no more. I know this is true because I was there, and in fact I have a photograph of the two of us, sitting side by side, each having one beer:
That's me on the right, using direct pressure on a slight wound I suffered earlier in the day.
Update: In a similar vein, this is absolutely hilarious (streaming audio content, not work safe).
