September 11, 1973

Over the weekend, the AP ran this story about the other 9/11 - the anniversary of the death of Salvadore Allende and the coup which brought Pinochet to power in Chile. Go ahead and read the story, and notice what it has to say about the US involvement in the coup. Hint: the acronym "CIA" appears nowhere in the story. Seems like a rather obvious omission, no? Note also that the story states as a matter of fact that Allende committed suicide, which may be true but is still a matter of some dispute.

As they say, history is written by the victors.
