New research shows British women aged 18 to 24 are "by far the largest drinkers of alcoholic drinks in Europe" and have overtaken men for binge drinking.
According to market analysts Datamonitor, drinking consumption by women in the UK rose 27 per cent between 1998 and 2003.
Danielle Rebelo of Datamonitor said: "They've got more money to spend, so it's more socially acceptable for women to be drinking.
"Also, men and women are becoming more similar. We've seen a rise in male grooming, while women get into sports and drinking."
Remember gentlemen - that "metrosexuality" thing cuts both ways. Ain't it grand?
